Scale and clean

A scale and clean is a procedure to remove hard calcium like deposits that form on teeth over time. This hard substance is called scale, tartar or calculus. It is a material that cannot be removed by normal tooth brushing and requires removal to prevent gum or periodontal disease.

After these deposits are removed the teeth are polished to remove any remaining stains. Most patients require this to be done every 6 months and others may require it to be done more regularly for many reasons.
